Millau is ON! The details are to be finalised, but as we speak, the Trip to the South of France is on for 2011! We are looking at July, August or September! The trip will be spread over one week to enable a comfortable ride, about 1200 miles, taking in various sights. Two of us are currently up for it! So please get in touch to register your place asap, as we have to book the hotels etc, Contact Alan Buxton (social sec), email: alanbuxtonuk@yahoo.co.uk for further information updates. And watch this space!!!!!

Alternatively,
how about a trip to Scotland, we currently are looking at a few different
routes, 1660 miles, 1500, and 1050 miles. Obviously we are going to try
and avoid the "midges" season...So other questions are... how
many of you are interested, how many days do you want to take over this
and how many miles per day should we be planning on? Depends upon whether
you want to pre book hotels or book en-route or camp?????? we are still working on this so get in touch!! Polite answers/suggestions only please. |

| A trip to Le Mans – the idea is to go to somewhere around 50 miles from Le Mans in a cheap hotel. Leave the UK on a Thursday, arrive at the hotel Thursday night. Friday go to Le Mans and wander round and watch practice, have a nice meal and go back to the hotel or go back to the hotel and have a nice meal. Saturday we go to Le Mans for the start, stay 24 hours or if it rains go back to the hotel, when the race is over, go back to the hotel, eat, crash out, Monday go home. Le Mans is usually the second weekend in June which would make the beginning of June very hectic, unless we go to the Bike Le Mans, usually in April, or to the Le Mans Classic which is in July. Let us know your thoughts? | |||
| We are always concious of the fact that not everyone can take the same time off work etc, in order to do these trips, so we are trying to vary the events so we can attempt to accomodate you all! | |||

Local Runs |
|||
| As
you know I have been tasked with trying to get us all out more by organising
runs, not just our monthly meetings and Summer pub runs on Wednesdays.
One place of interest I thought we might like to visit it is the code breaking centre from WW2 at Bletchley Park. We have already done this in 2010, but another trip in 2011 is possible, It is not just a museum of computing but has many other items of interest, check the website out. - http://www.bletchleypark.org.uk I would also like to plan a Sunday visit to Brooklands, this would be a good run and we may even hit on an event day. Breakfast there is purported to be good! http://www.brooklandsmuseum.com Those of you who came to the Dad’s Army museum last year will remember stopping at Long Melford for refreshments and it appeared to be a very quaint and picturesque village. Another Sunday run could be planned there. http://www.longmelford.co.uk All I am trying to do is to gauge interest. I am not asking for any commitment, I just want to know what sort of numbers are interested. No dates are planned yet and I do understand about the clashing of dates with other family “do’s” during the Summer. Whatever happens some dates will be planned for the above runs and posted on the web site, so you will be able to join us on the day if you can. If you have any other suggestions, preferably polite ones, as to where we can go to visit, please let me know. Alan Buxton Social Secretary
